“Our approach to housing must change. The scale of the problem is large, and everyone must be closely involved in this process," Somsook Boonyabancha, Chairperson of the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights, said during the panel titled “Building from Zero: From Resistance to Alternatives” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
She stated that surveys and analyses related to housing provision are being conducted among people:
“We carry out planning from the bottom up. This is the only way to solve the problems in the housing sector. We should try to create alternatives. We must not forget that we need to intensify work in this field even more.”
The coalition chairperson also emphasized that urban planning and other institutions should implement joint measures to solve the housing problem.
