I congratulate Azerbaijan on its successful organization, Christian Mensah, former Secretary of the Governing Bodies of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and Head of the Intergovernmental Relations Department, said during the event titled “WUF13 NGO Forum: Global Partnerships and Decision-Making,” APA reports.
“I congratulate Azerbaijan on the high-level organization of this event. We see that very diverse and interesting discussions are being held here, and I am very pleased to participate in this event. Peace and development stem from sustainable human development. Azerbaijan’s activities in promoting multilateralism, including within the framework of its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, have created a solid foundation for initiatives such as the ‘Global South NGO Platform.’ The creation of such a platform bringing together representatives from different parts of the world, especially from the Global South, is a very timely step. Within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, this initiative responds to the growing need for a more coordinated and broadly represented voice of civil society in rapidly urbanizing regions. Even within the panel itself, the representation of both women and men is a very positive development. Therefore, I congratulate Azerbaijan on the successful organization,” he noted.
