For the first time within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, a special leaders’ session has been organized at the level of heads of state and government, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Guliyev said during the opening ceremony of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.
“Today’s leaders’ session creates a unique opportunity for forming a shared vision regarding the future of cities,” Anar Guliyev noted.
According to him, this year’s forum marks a historic milestone: “For the first time within the framework of the World Urban Forum, a special session at the level of heads of state and government is being held at the initiative of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
Anar Guliyev stated that hosting WUF13 is both a great honor and an important responsibility for Azerbaijan.
He noted that the forum is the main international platform for promoting global urban policy, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
