After becoming legal entities, medical institutions in Azerbaijan will be under subordination of the Ministry of Health, and only the mechanism of their financing will be changed, Deputy Health Minister Elsavar Aghayev told APA.
According to the deputy minister, no paid service has been rendered in state-owned medical institutions. “However, application of compulsory health insurance can cause problems in their activities due to the lack of special accounts of the medical institutions. That’s why medical institutions are becoming legal entities. Thus, they will be funded either by the budget or other sources,” he said.
Recalling the implementation of pilot projects on compulsory health insurance in Yevlakh and Mingachevir districts, the deputy minister said that the scope of the compulsory health insurance can expand in Azerbaijan next year. “Health insurance is a sensitive issue. The health insurance can be applied all over country next year,” added Aghayev.
