7 perceptible earthquakes recorded in Azerbaijan and adjacent areas

A meeting of the Scientific-Technical Council of the Republican Center of Seismological Services (RCSS) of ANAS was held, ANAS told APA.

General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli delivering a speech at the meeting of the Scientific-Technical Council talked about the issues on the agenda. At the meeting, the results of the scientific studies and research conducted by the relevant departments of the RCSS in the first half of 2022, as well as reports on the work done by the center were presented.

Head of the Earthquake Research Bureau of the RSSC, Ph.D. in Earth sciences, Saida Ismayilova said while delivering a speech that in the first half of 2022, the analysis of seismicity was carried out on the basis of 42 digital data. During 6 months of this year, 5747 earthquakes have been recorded by the Bureau. 1802 of them are local (Azerbaijani territory), 1617 are regional and 1627 are remote earthquakes. As well as, during 6 months of this year, 701 explosions were recorded.

Note that In the first half of 2022, 20 earthquakes with a magnitude higher than 3 were recorded on the territory of Azerbaijan. 7 perceptible earthquakes have been recorded in Azerbaijan and its adjacent areas. After that, heads of relevant departments of RSSC made speeches and presented their reports on the work done in 2022.

The discussions ended with answering the questions on the presented reports and accepting the reports.
