On November 18 to 23 of the current year, joint complex operational search and preventive measures under the conventional name “Border” have been held in the border areas of both countries in accordance with the mutual agreement achieved between Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, the press service of internal Affairs told APA.
The main objective of the operation is the neutralization of members of transnational organized criminal groups and terrorist organizations, the identification and suppression of the receipt of financial and material means aimed at carrying out criminal acts by transnational organized criminal groups, the suppression of the transfer of weapons, explosives and facilities, drugs.
As a result of measures covering the border areas of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation, as well as Gusar, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, Sheki, Balakan, Gabala, Gakh and Oguz districts of country, law enforcement authorities detained 69 wanted individuals, including 25 for committing various crimes (22 of them - in the Russian Federation), 44 wanted as debtors, 8 missing were found and transferred to families.
A total of 117 types of weapons were seized, including 9 machine guns, 2 grenade launchers, 8 pistols, 98 rifles, 44 grenades, 35 stores, 18 noise grenades, drafts and knives, 9 knives, brass knuckles, about 10 thousand rounds of various calibers.
