Archeological excavations begin in ancient dwelling place in Tovuz dating back to Neolithic and Eneolithic Ages

Archeological excavations were carried out in the dwelling place in Ashagi Gushchu village of Tovuz region dating back to the Neolithic and Eneolithic Ages, head of the scientific expedition Farhad Guliyev told APA. He said that the dwelling place dated back to the second half of the 6th century B.C.
“Archeological excavations have already begun in the dwelling place. Specialists from Japan and France will also help us. The dwelling place is a hill (height - 8m, diameter – 145m) covering 2ha area. Such ancient dwelling places have not been excavated in Azerbaijan so far. As a result of the research done in line with the standards we will try to protect the monument,” he said.

Guliyev said large-scale archeological excavations would be carried out along with foreign specialists next year.
