The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied claims that Iran fired warning shots at U.S. military vessels in the Gulf of Oman and forced American ships to retreat toward the Indian Ocean, APA reports.

CENTCOM said in a statement that Iranian forces did not attack or open fire on U.S. Navy vessels.

“Such an action would constitute a gross violation of the ceasefire,” the statement said.

The command also added that U.S. forces continue to operate freely in regional waters and ensure the enforcement of the blockade imposed on Iran.

Iran has carried out a missile and drone attack on US warships in the Gulf of Oman, Tasnim reports, citing the Iranian army.

It was noted that Qadir-type missiles and a new type of drones were launched as a warning toward the US destroyers DDG-103 and DDG-87 in the Gulf of Oman.

It was reported that the destroyers subsequently withdrew toward the Indian Ocean.

In addition, the US amphibious assault ship Tripoli also left the Gulf of Oman.

The Iranian military has warned that longer-range missiles will be used in the future if the US continues its "maritime piracy."
