2 122 743 sq m territory of Azerbaijan cleared of mines and unexploded ordnances last month

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov-APA. 2 122 743 sq m territory of Azerbaijan was checked and cleared of mines and unexploded ordnances (UXO) in April this year. Press Service of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA) told APA that 4,894 UXOs had been found and neutralized during the operations. Totally 339 men, 5 mine clearing machines and 30 mine dogs were involved in the operations.
ANAMA has cleared 67 648 981 sq m territory of mines up to now. 306, 889 mines and UXOs have been found and neutralized. Mine/UXO accidents were not recorded last month. According to the statistics basing on various sources 57 people have died and 134 were wounded in 98 mine accidents since September, 2001.
The agency carries out mine clearance operations in Terter, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Goranboy and Aghstafa.
Microcredits were given to 20 people, who suffered from mine accidents in Goranboy.
