Number of Chinese migrants exceeds 3000 in Azerbaijan

Chairman of the center Alovsat Aliyev said that according to the UN studies, the number of migrants has reached 200 million in the recent 35 years. The US is the first for the number of migrants, Russia is the second, Germany is the third and Ukraine is the fourth in the world. Aliyev said there were about 100,000 migrants in Azerbaijan.
â€œAccording to the official statistics, 9400 migrants have been registered in the country, 632 have been sent awayâ€, he said.
He also said that a lot of Chinese migrants had come to Azerbaijan.
â€œAccording to unofficial calculations, 1000 migrants came to Azerbaijan in 2006, while early in 2007 their number exceeded 3000. Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population has given individual permission to 5341 foreigners since 2001 up to nowâ€, he said.
Touching upon the problems of migrants in Azerbaijan, Aliyev spoke about the foreignersâ€™ problems in prolonging the term of their registration. He said the foreigners faced serious obstacles in getting legal assistance. He also noted that they had sent recommendations to the Government in connection with the solution of these problems.
