Baku hosts Closing Conference of the project â€œTraining on the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) for prosecutors in Azerbaijanâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. The Council of Europe (CoE) will hold a Closing Conference of the project â€œTraining on the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) for prosecutors in Azerbaijanâ€, in conjunction with a seminar for the prosecutorsâ€™ and judgesâ€™ trainers of Azerbaijan on the ECHR on 11-12 June 2009, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Government of Luxembourg.

The event will discuss the Council of Europe programme entitled â€œHuman Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP Programme)â€ aiming at the development of instruments necessary for the integration of ECHR education into training curricula for judges and prosecutors. Participants will include the prosecution staff selected at the beginning of the project and who acted as trainers in cascade seminars to almost 600 of their colleagues covering all prosecution offices in Azerbaijan, as well as judges who conducted internal training within the judicial institution. There will be an opening address by the Deputy Minister of Justice, the Deputy Prosecutor General and the CoE Special Representative of the Secretary General to Azerbaijan.
