Monthly pension benefit accounts for 34% of monthly salary in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of April 1, the number of pensioners reached 1 283 800 or 15% of the population in Azerbaijan, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to the official statistics, 65% of pensioners receive pension benefits for age, 24% for disability and 11% for death of head of household.

The average monthly pension benefit increased 29% year-on-year to AZN 98.79 or 34% of average monthly salary in the country.

The State Social Protection Fund spent AZN 400.6 million on pensions and allowances during January-March.
Of this, AZN 389.9 million was paid to population as pension benefits and AZN 10.7 million as allowances.
