Lachinâ€™s rich natural resources are under the occupation for 17 years

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva â€“APA. 17 years have passed since the occupation of Azerbaijanâ€™s Lachin Region by the Armenian armed forces. Rich natural resources of Lachin Region are under the Armenian occupation as well. There are various medicinal waters in Lachin like Turshsu, Aghanus, Khirmanlar, Tigig, Tursh-tigig, Nuraddin, Naghdali, Hajikhanli, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources told APA.

There are 1125 tons of mercury resources (Narzanli, Gilgezchay, Saribulag), 4457 lime carbonate, 2533 thousand cubic meters of marble, 5125 cubic meters of brick (Aghoghlan, Ahmadli), 998 thousand cubic meters of earthen fields Novruzlu, 2144 thousand cubic m of volcanic foam, 15 794 thousand cubic m of Upper Hakarichay gravel fields, 10 tons of agate and 0.9 tons of jade, 10449 thousand tons of volcanic ashes, 430 thousand cubic m p/d of Minkend mineral waters in Lachin.

Garagol National Park and Reserve of Lachin is under the occupation. 240 ha of territory of the park are covered with 68 species and 27 families of various plants. There are various rare animals and birds like roe deer, Caucasian goat, wild boar, bear, partridge, willow grouse and catbird in the Garagol National Park. According to the statistics of 1989, there were 96 wild goats, 360 wild boars, 320 roe deer, 110 bears, the number of wolves, badgers, squirrels and other animals, as well as 200 pheasants, 1500 partridges and other wild birds in the park. There is one of the rare plants in the world â€“ red oak in Garagol park, which is used particularly for the production of expensive furniture and barrels for the cognac spirit.

There are 33285 hectares of forest lands in Lachin Region with 26647 hectares of tree cover, pine trees, oaks, hornbeams, ash-trees, birch-trees, currants, acacias, poplars, willows, ironwoods and pear-trees.

There are two 400-year old Eastern plane trees in Zabukh Village and right bank of Hakari River, as well as junipers and chestnut-trees in the region.
