Baku hosts Cultural Diversity Day events

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“APA. 21 May is marked by the United Nations as World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. On that occasion the UN Department of Public Information (UN DPI) in Azerbaijan, in close cooperation with the United Artistsâ€™ Club of Azerbaijan and Labyrinth Creative Public Association, supported by the Union of Azerbaijan Artists, Center of Contemporary Art of Azerbaijan, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Baku Biennale and Open Society Institute, are gearing up in Baku to celebrate the Day, UN Office in Baku told APA. The opening of an exhibition of art works and films will take place on 18 May, 2009 at the Center of Contemporary Art of Azerbaijan. The exhibition â€œTo be a Womanâ€ will put on display contemporary art works by various artists, focusing on how different cultures or individuals value the notion of gender. On 19 May, the UN Office will host a joint workshop within the framework of the International Forum of Contemporary Art â€œMaiden Towerâ€ to affirm and promote global values of intercultural dialogue.
