Chairperson of Composersâ€™ Union criticizes song to be performed by Azerbaijanâ€™s representatives in Eurovision

In her interview to APA Firangiz Alizadeh also touched on some nuances.
â€œThe song chosen to represent Azerbaijan in Eurovision was composed in line with European standards. Azerbaijan could be represented in Eurovision contest with a more extraordinary, splendid song,â€ she said.

The composer underlined that pipe had been used in the soundtrack of Titanic.
â€œThis song is very popular. The whole world speaks of this song. This song begins with extraordinary timbre of the pipe. The sound of pipe attracts our attention. The composer could use an ordinary European flute in the song and Europe would regard it as more normal. The composer thought to use untraditional timbre and instrument and used the non-European musical instrument, but we send an ordinary song from Azerbaijan, the homeland of non-European musical instruments. I donâ€™t claim that the song is bad and at the same time I wouldnâ€™t like to evaluate it as well. I think we can represent the extraordinary culture far from the European timbres and instruments. Three minutes is enough to cover good theme, good timbres and good intonationâ€.

Alizadeh said she listened â€œAlwaysâ€, the song to be performed by the Azerbaijani representatives, but this song didnâ€™t stir any feeling. â€œWhen I heard the song I felt that it came from Georgia, Russia or Great Britain. In fact, I donâ€™t care about it. May be we will succeed with this song. These standards are highly appreciated now and we can expect everything, but I donâ€™t believe in wide popularity of this song in Azerbaijanâ€.

The composer said she didnâ€™t give an importance to the Eurovision contest and didnâ€™t accept it seriously. â€œThere are so much political talks and disputes, which are far from the music around this contest that I canâ€™t accept it seriously. Therefore nobody can predict anything about the results of the contestâ€.
