There are about 2500 mosques in Azerbaijan, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli said during his speech at "State-religion model of Azerbaijan" conference, APA reports.
Chairman of Committee stressed that up to 1,500 of the mosques constantly operate.
Mubariz Gurbanli touched on the issue of cases of abuse in the name of religion: "Cases of abuse of Islam and other religions occur. The task facing our state is to make Azerbaijan the strongest state in the region."
