CMO head highlights interfaith unity in honoring Karabakh martyrs

“We jointly attended the funeral ceremonies of martyrs belonging to different religions — Muslim, Catholic, Orthodox, Jewish — we participated together without making any distinctions,” said the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, at the 5th meeting dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Memorial Day of Religious Confessions in Azerbaijan, organized by the Caucasus Muslim Board.

“Whether during the days of the Patriotic War or after our blessed Victory, we — the heads of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan — repeatedly met both online and in person, extensively discussing the sacred goals of the Second Karabakh War and did our utmost to convey comprehensive information to the world community about our just struggle. We carried out intensive work with all the religious centers and international organizations we cooperated with to expose the war crimes of the Armenian side, the inhumane acts committed against our people, as well as the disinformation they spread and their insidious accusations. It is a matter of pride that our esteemed head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, during his historic speech at the Jidir Plain in our cultural capital, Shusha, made special mention of the contribution of Azerbaijan’s religious figures and believers to the Karabakh Victory and highly appreciated our activities. Even today, Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Jews, Albanian-Udis in Azerbaijan, together with Muslims, surround the families of our homeland’s martyrs with attention and care, and honor their memory in a dignified manner. This unity of ours is undoubtedly an inseparable part of the Azerbaijani ideology of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and thanks to our multicultural traditions, the power of the Azerbaijani state will always continue with victories.”
