This year, the Ramadan calendar coincides with Novruz, which holds a special place and national significance in the centuries-old history of the Azerbaijani people, APA reports.
This is stated in the fatwa of the Council of Qazis of the Caucasus Muslims Board on the occasion of the beginning of Ramadan.
“During Novruz, wars ceased, the estranged reconciled, and people shared their joy and hope for the future with one another. Taking into account the divine significance of Ramadan, we recommend that the Novruz tables set on Tuesdays be adjusted to the iftar hours so that our people may attain the joy and blessings of both Ramadan and Novruz,” the fatwa states.
It was noted that the date of the Ramadan holiday will most likely fall on March 20, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal.
