Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with the delegation of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (CIRF) visiting Azerbaijan, the ministry told APA.
During the meeting with the delegation led by the Chairman of the Commission, Stephen Schneck, they exchanged views on the cooperation between the two countries on religious issues as a component of the humanitarian sphere in Azerbaijan-US bilateral relations, as well as the importance of values such as multiculturalism and religious tolerance in developing the practice of peaceful coexistence based on mutual respect in our time.
The Chairman of the CIRF, Commissioner S. Schneck, stated that the visit was carried out to directly familiarize themselves with the experience gained in regulating religious issues in Azerbaijan over the past year. He noted that for this purpose, meetings with representatives of a number of relevant state bodies and representatives of various religious communities are planned within the framework of the visit.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
