During the Soviet times, 234 mosques that were taken from Georgian Muslims were returned to them during the years of independence, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
At the international conference on "The role of the state in Interreligious dialogue" jointly organized by the Georgian State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations (SCC) and the State Agency for Religious Issues (SARI), the SARI Chairman Zaza Vashakmadze noted that the organization has allocated 14 million dollars for the development of religious communities, except for the Orthodox church in Georgia.
