CEC Chairman of Azerbaijan: Religious communities’ attitude towards the election process can be more effective

The committee told APA that chief of the committee Hidayat Orujov said there were forces, who attempted to use religious factor for certain purposes. He said the aim of the seminar was to pay attention to the religious and voting relations in the system of state-religion relations, review the current legislation and exchange views on the issues, which needed elucidation.
Chairman of Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov addressing the event said devout people, like all citizens having the right to vote, should closely take part in all important processes in the country.
“All citizens, irrespective of their position, religious belief and political affiliation, should take an active part in this process in order to hold democratic elections in Azerbaijan. Religious communities should be active in this field. Their attitude towards the election process can be more effective, as the devout people and religious communities have been accustomed to express unique position,” he said.
