Ilya II mentioned that Gakh Georgians, as well as Georgian citizens visit Kurmukh church on November 23-Saint Georgi Day. He asked Sheik to raise issue in relevant bodies for the restoration of praying in the church. Catholicos-Patriarch noted that praying was stopped in the church as it was announced cultural monument. But Juma Mosque in Tbilisi is also cultural heritage, but Tbilisi Muslims pray here without any obstacle.
Ilya II also appealed to Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev and wanted him to set up condition for Georgian citizens who want to pray in Kurmukh church. CMO press service head Haji Akif Agayev told the APA they have not yet received such letter, but Sheik commented on the issue not long ago. He said that saint places are not property of anyone, and everyone can pray there. /APA/
