Azeri Turkish Women Union holds roundtable

Roundtable on “religious missioners’ threat for Azerbaijan and other Turkish states” was held on the initiative of Azeri Turkish Women Union, APA reports.
The representatives of several public unions, parliamentarians, members of state bodies attended the event. The chairwoman of the Union Tanzila Rustamkhanli stressed that there was no sectarian problem and people were living friendly for years in Azerbaijan, but after the independence several religious sects created problems.
State Committee for Religious Affairs department’s chief Gunduz Ismayilov said religious issues should be carefully approached. He said the state is controlling religious processes ongoing in the country and there is no any threat.
Ismayilov state that there are no people in Azerbaijan who propagate Islam and therefore there is gap in the field of religion.
Azerbaijani MP Gular Ahmedova said that religious sects are engaged in politics.
Azerbaijani MPs Sabir Rustamkhanli, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, Panah Huseynov and others expressed their opinions on the theme. /APA/
