On August 31, a meeting was held between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, APA reports.
Masoud Pezeshkian fondly recalled his meetings and telephone conversations with the head of state and emphasized that, in the difficult situation Iran is facing, President Ilham Aliyev’s position, the support he has demonstrated, the condolences he has expressed, as well as the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan, are highly appreciated by the Iranian state and people. He once again expressed his gratitude for all of this.
Noting that there are very good opportunities for developing relations, the Iranian President said that they are interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan in all areas.
Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that relations between the two countries are of a fraternal and friendly nature and said that Iran intends to maintain good relations with all neighboring countries.
The head of state, in turn, emphasized that Azerbaijan’s assistance amid the situation Iran is facing is an example of brotherhood.
President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan supports resolving the situation concerning Iran through peace and negotiations.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in various areas.
