Security measures have been tightened in Bishkek in connection with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, MIR 24 TV channel reports.

Nearly 15,000 personnel from Kyrgyzstan’s internal affairs bodies, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Emergency Situations and other agencies are operating under a heightened security regime in Bishkek, where delegations from 21 countries have arrived.

According to the report, security posts have been set up along roads and near hotels and key event venues in the Kyrgyz capital. Security forces are on duty around the clock, changing shifts every 12 hours.

Due to the scale of the event, even tax service employees have been deployed to guard hotels.

Electricity network specialists are also stationed near hotels, ready to quickly resolve any potential problems.

The uniforms of law enforcement officers are equipped with special red and blue flashing beacons at night to ensure that passing motorcades are clearly visible.

One of Bishkek’s shopping centers has been closed to visitors during the summit and made available for use by journalists.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan is preparing for the opening of the World Nomad Games. According to the TV channel, around 100,000 participants and guests are expected to arrive in the country in connection with the Games.
