“The Middle Corridor, in which Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan play a special and key role, will be discussed at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek,” Temirlan Razbaev, adviser on a voluntary basis to the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and expert at the Department of Analytics and Coordination, told APA.
“We are currently marking the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Kyrgyzstan is chairing the organization this year. It is precisely in this anniversary year that changes are also taking place within the organization itself. Therefore, this SCO Summit is of great importance. This year, changes will be made to the SCO’s structure, and amendments to the Charter in this regard will be put forward for discussion. In addition, issues related to the future development of the SCO’s financial system are also being discussed. This concerns the SCO Development Bank. The Middle Corridor, in which Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan play a special and key role, is also on the agenda for discussion,” Temirlan Razbaev noted.
According to him, the SCO was established as an organization to combat terrorism and extremism: “Today, this area is no less important. It is being further developed. The opening of the organization’s Dushanbe Center, that is, the establishment of a center to combat terrorism and extremism, is also one of the three main issues under discussion. Therefore, this area will always remain important and relevant. This is because, in addition to this, the issue of cybersecurity is also emerging in our world, and our country is also assisting other countries in this area.”
