Sergei Romanets, Thales (France) Director for development of business in security and transport in Russia and CIS states, told APA-Economics, that the company is actively cooperating with Baku Metro on this issue.
“Currently, Azerbaijan is the major direction for us. Baku Metro is rapidly developing and interested in the use of modern technologies," he said.
Thales has performed a technical feasibility study for the signalling renovation of 5 existing stations and depot Darnagul. The realisation phase of the above projects is under evaluation of Baku Metropolitan.
Sergei Romanets said that modernization in five stations can take 12-18 months.
Thales is also interested in participating into extension program of Baku Metropolitan, in particular into signalling of the new Purple Line based on CBTC technology.
CBTC system will allow reducing the interval between trains by 60 seconds and improving security.
