The United States will continue lifting sanctions against Russia, and the diesel agreement was only the first step, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, UNIAN reports.

"Unfortunately, they will not be able to stop Putin this way. On the contrary, he is happy to receive such support," Zelenskyy said.

He also expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would do everything possible to stop Russia's attacks.

Zelenskyy stressed that ending the war cannot be achieved by reducing pressure on Russia.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump signed a decision exempting Moscow from the Lindsey Graham Act, which envisages tougher sanctions against Russia and Iran, just days before the law was due to enter into force.

Trump also recently announced that Russia would supply 300,000 tons of diesel to the global market.
