He said Azerbaijan and Systra company of France are working on the project on enlargement of Baku Metro.
“Azerbaijan’s President has adopted the Greater Baku Development Plan determining the directions of future development of Baku. One of these directions is the improvement of metro. There is development scheme of Baku Metro and we think there is potential to cooperate with the French companies in this field,” he said.
Minister said the improvement of Baku Metro is not only connected with the construction of new lines and new stations.
“I believe that the French partners can also cooperate with Azerbaijan in the delivery of technical equipment for Metro, provision of metro cars and underground equipment and renewal of electric car park,” he said.
Samir Sharifov said another direction of Azerbaijan-France cooperation is the project on the development of rail transport.
“French companies will make proposals to Azerbaijan’s Transport Ministry and Azerbaijan Railways CSC. These proposals will be followed by French bank loans. Moreover, these projects will be insured by the insurance agencies of France,” he said.
Final protocol was signed at the 7th meeting of Azerbaijan-France Intergovernmental Economic Commission in Baku. The document was signed by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov and French Minister of Commerce Nicole Bricq.
