Azerbaijan attends 8th Internet Governance Forum

Baku. Aqshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. Azerbaijani delegation is attending the 8^th Internet Governance Forum “Building Bridges-The Role of Governments in

Multistakeholder Cooperation” in Bali, Indonesia. Azerbaijani representative Deput Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Elmir Valizadeh has made speech at the assembly.

Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies told APA that, Valizadeh underlined that IGF Baku meeting has contributed to IGF process. He also informed about the works done in Azerbaijan on this sphere.

Valizadeh also gave information about launch of first telecommunication satellite, State Fund for IT Development, establishment of High-Tech Park, opening of IT University.

Within the forum, E. Valizadeh met with the Minister of Communication and Informatics of Indonesia Tifatul Sembiring and they discussed existing situation in ICT sphere, cooperation opportunities between the countries.

At the same time, meeting with officials of the US, the UK, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, representatives of international and public organizations were held at the event. Within the visit, Valizadeh also made speech in High-level Ministerial Meeting.

The IGF Forum will last till October 25 and a seminar dedicated to Azerbaijan’s ICT sphere will be held within the forum.
