Azerbaijan and UN to extend cooperation

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Within the visit of the President of the 67^th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk JeremiÄ‡ to Azerbaijan, he has met with Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.

According to Ministry, Abbasov spoke about Azerbaijan’s achievements in ICTsector, national and regional projects implemented in this sector.

Moreover, mentioning that Azerbaijan is a coordinator on Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), which has got next encouragement in 2012 under the resolutions of the UN General Assembly and one of main initiators and participants in Europe Persia Express Gateway (EPEG) projects, Abbasov said that Azerbaijan’s first satellite Azerspace has started export services, and works on establishment of High Technologies Park, State Fund for IT Development and IT University under the Ministry of Communication and IT are underway.

In turn, Jeremic noted that Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the UN is developing.

Besides, cooperation perspectives between Azerbaijan and the UN and other issues were discussed.
