Chairman of the Committee Aydin Aliyev said the State Customs Committee will tighten security over this sphere.
According to him, Azerbaijani customs bodies are fulfilling their obligations before the state budget mostly through import taxes and duties.
“But ecological situation in the country should also be taken into consideration. I think this is a timely and right decision passed regarding the transport sector and traffic jams in the country,” he said.
Aydin Aliyev said Azerbaijan is switching to Euro 4 standard.
“The European countries are applying Euro 5 standard. They are even thinking about Euro 6. The adoption of Euro 4 is a decision in line with Azerbaijani realities. Customs system has already started relevant preparations,” he said.
Aydin Aliyev said the State Customs Committee is holding talks with importers.
“The Customs Department of Motor Transport under the State Customs Committee has a customs laboratory. The control will be tightened even more. All the imported vehicles – the question is used vehicles - will undergo tight control. Before, they underwent examination at the laboratory through selection depending on the year of production, from now on all used vehicles will be examined. The State Customs Committee will tighten control,” he said.
