Deputy Head of the Main Department for Operation and Repair of Roads under the State Agency for Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA) Hidayat Rustamov has said today that the construction of a 23-kilometer road without entering the liberated Lachin has begun, APA-Economics reports.
Deputy Head of AAYDA said that the new alternative road without entering Lachin will have two lanes: "We have started construction of a 23 km long alternative road without entering Lachin to ensure comfortable traffic."
Some media outlets and social networks have distorted the idea of construction of this road as an alternative to the Lachin corridor.
APA-Economics clarified with official sources that the road which is under construction is not an alternative to Lachin corridor: “Part of that road passes namely through Lachin corridor. In other words, an additional 23 kilometers of road is being built to ensure smooth traffic without entering the city of Lachin.
