Subway to be constructed in Sumgayit, Nakhchivan and Ganja

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. A metro will be constructed in the settlements around Baku, Sumgayit, Nakhchivan and Ganja, said the head of Baku Metro Taghi Ahmadov.

According to him, one of 6 stations to be launched by 2015 – Darnagul is already on the use: “Two stations will be launched in May, 2014, six stations – in 2016”.

Ahmadov noted that as a result of fulfillment of the “State Program of 20-year development of Baku Metro”, the Metro will have 76 stations and 109 km-rail by 2030: “That’s why, there will be subway station in every 900 meters. The construction works continue in Avtovagzal, Memar Ajami-2, B-3 stations in Jeyhun Salimov Street, near of Sports and Concerts Complex name of Heydar Aliyev, behind of Heydar Aliyev Palace, Hazi Aslanov-2 station, Old and New Guneshli”.

Speaking about subway’s future, Ahmadov said that necessary measures will be taken for residents of settlements around Baku, Ganja, Nakhchivan and Sumgayit to use subway.
