According to APA-Economics, General Director for the Azerbaijan Republic, Georgia and Turkmenistan at Lufthansa Stefan Versemann noted at the press conference that the number of weekly flights to Frankfurt will be increased up to 5 in summer schedule. From May 31, the flights on Frankfurt-Baku-Frankfurt route will be implemented 5 times in a week – on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Currently, the flights from Baku to Frankfurt are implemented on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday by Airbus A330 and Airbus A340 airliners.
As you know, the plane flying from Frankfurt to Baku thereafter flies to Ashgabat, thereafter comes back to Frankfurt through Baku. Passenger flow on the direction of Baku and Ashgabat made 6.8% in 2012. In general, 103.1 mln passengers used services of Air Company in 2012, up 2.4% from previous year.
Versemann spoke about increasing development of the company and noted that Lufthansa increase its activity in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan significantly in 2012. Thus, passenger flow in 2012 rose 6.8%, total incomes – 17.4%.
Versemann also said that the business class cabin will be modernized fully and in 2015 the company will invest 50 mln Euros in modernization of all airliners.
He added that the passengers of Frankfurt-Baku-Frankfurt flight can use internet services during the flying: “Passengers from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are able to use FlyNet services. This service allows passengers on a business visit connecting with corporative servers via Virtual Private Network”.
Versemann also noted that information exchange on GSM and GPRS standards will be available recently: “Wireless WLAN networks will additionally include SMS sending to communication opportunities inboard and data transferring through smart phones”.
