International Water Technologies Forum kicks off in Baku - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

According to APA-Economics, the exhibition and forum are organized on the initiative of and supported by Azersu JSC. The organizational partner is Iteca Caspian LLC.

Deputy PM Abid Sharifov touched upon dynamic development of Azerbaijan’s economy during recent years. He noted that as a result of this development, about $25.18 bn ($15.05 bn domestic investment, $10.03 bn foreign investment) was invested in Azerbaijan’s economy in 2012: ‘$19.04 bn from total investments ws directed to non-oil sector, $6.4 bn – oil sector’.

Speaking about the works carried out in direction of implementation of water supply and sewerage system in Azerbaijan, Deputy PM noted that the forum would be significant from the viewpoint of studying new technologies.

Chairman of Azersu OJSC Korkhmaz Huseynov stressed that involvement of reputable scientists in the international forum for the first time, use of new technologies will assume great importance in future.

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov said that today solution of problems connected with water has become a very important issue in the whole world. This problem shows itself in global, domestic level, as well as in the growth of population: “I can say that the water supply of Azerbaijan is 6 times less than Georgia. Of course, if the water is used efficiently, this problem will not arise. The head of state also pays great attention to this issue. One of the main tangible results is that use of water is higher in the regions, where water is given in accordance with a schedule”.

Turkey's Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroglu said that today’s forum assumes great importance: “We can establish very big and important business with Azerbaijan in this field.” The minister noted that earlier, Turkey faced with water problem: “But thanks to new technologies, this problem has been solved in the country”. He invited Azerbaijan to use Turkish experience in this area.
