Cargo transportation via sea transport falls in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. In 2012, 12.4 mln tonnes of cargo were transported via sea transport, down 1.1% from 2011.

State Statistical Committee says 60.54% of cargo was oil, 39.5% - dry cargo and all transportation were carried out on foreign connections: “In the reporting period, 11.9 mln tones of shipping and unshipping works were carried out, up 0.4% compared with a year earlier. International transit cargo rose 1.8%, import cargo – dropped 11%”.

As of January 1, 2013, 81,600 tonnes of cargo were remained at the ports to be sent, up 13.3% from year earlier.

At the same time, 17,700 passengers were transported via sea transport, up 2.3% compared with a year ago.
