Baku – APA-Economics. In 2012, the cargo transportations in transport sector rose 3.5%, passenger transportation – 8.4% in Azerbaijan, Ministry of Transport told APA.
210.6 mln tonnes of cargo and 1.6 bln passengers were transported in 2012.
22.9 mln tonnes or 10.9% of cargo were transported by railway, 12.4 mln tonnes or 5.9% - by water, 118.1 mln tonnes or 56.1% - by motor transport and 57.2 mln tonnes or 27.1% - pipelines.
1,417.4 mln passengers or 88.6% were transported by motors, 2.7 mln or 0.17% - by railway, 16 mln or 0.1% - by air transport and 195.6 mln or 12.2% - by metro.
