Baku. Ali Ahmadov – APA-Economics. From May 1, it will be impossible to use the stolen mobile phones in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Iltimas Mammadov said, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, after the launch of new registration system, the citizens whose phone is stolen, will report it by calling the 4-digit number, and so service will be suspended to that phone. And if thereupon, that phone is used, it will lead to the exposure of persons who stole the phone: ‘The site and call center will start to operate from April 1. From that date, any call to number 1677, can get information about the phone and find out whether it is an original or not.’

With the launch of the new registration system, the phones, used before May 1, will be applied “amnesty” in Azerbaijan. Mammadov said that regardless of their origin, the phones that purchased before May 1, will be legal and can be used without any problems.

In this regard, the Deputy Minister advised citizens to insert sim-cards in their existing phone, which are off-use at home and use them several times in order to register in the new system.
