When naming avenues, streets, squares, and other components of the respective territorial unit, as well as when changing their names, the norms of the state language will be taken into account, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law on territorial device and administrative-territorial division, which was discussed today at a meeting of the Parliament’s Committee for Regional Affairs.
According to the current law, the naming of avenues, streets, squares, and other components of the respective territorial unit, as well as changes to their names, is carried out by the relevant executive authorities, taking into account the opinion of the local population.
