Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Georgian Air Navigation Service refused to provide service to a Russian aircraft en route from Volgograd to Yerevan when it is starting to pass over Georgia as usual.
When Yak-42 aircraft, owned by Volgaaviaekspress, received a negative response on the territory of Georgia, the crew decided to change the direction and fly over Azerbaijan.
Georgia didn’t comment on the issue.
The airlines can choose the route of flight, but Russian air navigation service recommended all Russian airlines no to operate flights over Georgia.
As to Volgograd-Yerevan flight through Azerbaijan’s airspace, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) told APA-Economics that they has not received any official request about this.
