US and Azerbaijan to sign MoU on ICT sphere next month

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijani Minister Communication an Information Technologies Ali Abbasov met with US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar.

Ministry told APA, the ambassador praised the announcement of ICT sphere as priority sphere after energy sector. He also stressed development of internet and noted that, the 7th Internet Management Forum, t be held in Baku in November by the organizing of UN and Azerbaijani government, will create new opportunities for the Republic. So, Azerbaijan can demonstrate its successes that achieved as an exemplary country developing in the region economically, as well developing ICT sector after oil and non-oil sector: â€œUS delegation led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Technologies Philip L. Verveer will visit Azerbaijan and within the visit Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and US State Department will sign a memorandum of agreement on cooperation in ICT sphereâ€.

Speaking about reforms and implemented projects, especially TransEurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), as well regional projects Ali Abbasov informed about current situation of cooperation in satellite, contract between Microsoft and Azerbaijan, creation of Database Centre of Microsoft in Azerbaijan and etc.
