Cargo transportation via transport sector increases by 4% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. In January-August, 2012, the economic subjects operating in transport sector of Azerbaijan transported AZN 140.8 mln tons of cargo, up 2.8% compared to last year.

According to SSC, the volume of non-oil cargos rose 8.3% during the reporting period: â€œ55.6% of cargos were transported by motor road, 27.6% - pipelines, 10.8% - railway, 6% - sea transport. Cargo transportation in non-state sector grew by 3.4%.

At the same time, in January-August, transport workers consumed transport services to 1.033 mln people, up 8.65 passengers compared to last year. 87.4% of passengers used vehicles, 12.3% - metro.
