Passenger transportation via railway transport decreases by 21%

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. 15.2 mln tons of cargo were transported via Azerbaijan’s railway transport during 8 months of 2012, up 7.5% from a year earlier.
Averagely 683 wagons were entrained, 550 – detrained per day. 27,200 tons of entraining works were conducted for North direction, 6,400 tons – for West direction and 4,100 tons for South direction.
At the same time, cargo turnover decreased by 7.3% to 5,462.1 mln ton/km.
At the same time, 1,865,200 passengers were transported via railway transport, down 21.4% in comparison to a year earlier. Passenger turnover dropped 12.4% to 397.2 mln pas/km.
