Posting letter correspondences increased 4% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. An event dedicated to the World Post Day was held in Baku. Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov congratulated the postal workers at the event, APA-Economics reports. He said Azerbaijan was attending different international events and workshops in the postal field. “There are comprehensive changes in the postal sphere in Azerbaijan such as infrastructure improvement, renovating work and etc.”

The deputy minister said 32 private companies in Azerbaijan had a license to provide postal services and their activity covered only large cities of the country like Baku, Ganja, but Azerpocht Ltd founded by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies was serving the population even in remote regions of the country.

It was noted at the event that posting letter correspondences in Azerbaijan were increased 4%, money transfers – more than 20% in comparison with previous years.

A number of postal workers were awarded on the occasion of the World Post Day, which has been annually celebrated since the foundation of the Universal Postal Union 136 years ago.
