A preparatory court hearing has been held in the criminal case of Abdulla Aliyev, who is accused of preparing to commit a terrorist act in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

The defendant’s personal details were clarified during the session held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Aygun Qurbanova.

The court decided to review the case.

The court hearing is scheduled for June 2.

Note that Abdulla Aliyev is charged under Articles 28, 214.2.1 (terrorism committed by a group of persons in advance conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization), 28, 214.2.3 (terrorism committed using firearms or objects used as weapons), 28, 214.2.6 (terrorism committed on the grounds of religious enmity, religious radicalism, or religious fanaticism), and Article 218.2 (participation in a criminal organization or in a union of organizers, leaders, or other representatives of organized groups) of the Criminal Code.

According to available information, he was detained by officers of the State Security Service (SSS) while preparing to attack a Jewish synagogue in Baku with a Molotov cocktail.

The indictment states that 18-year-old Abdulla Aliyev, a resident of Sumgayit and linked to the terrorist organization “ISIS-Khorasan,” was preparing to carry out a terrorist act against the “Mountain Jews Synagogue of Baku.”

On December 28 of last year, he approached the synagogue by car and was preparing to carry out an attack using a Molotov cocktail and other items intended to be used as weapons.

During the operation, objects and items intended to be used as weapons were discovered and confiscated from Abdulla Aliyev and his vehicle.
