Serious and especially grave crimes drop by nearly 19% in Azerbaijan

Serious and especially serious crimes in Azerbaijan have decreased by about 19 percent, this was announced on July 10 at a Board meeting at the Ministry of Internal Affairs dedicated to the results of operational-service activities in the first six months of 2025 and the tasks ahead, APA reports.

According to the Ministry, 17,049 crimes were registered over the past six months across all state bodies involved in investigative and operational-search activities. Of these, 94.4% were legally investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office.

Compared to the same period in 2024, serious and especially grave crimes decreased by 18.9%, crimes involving firearms fell by half, offenses committed by previously convicted individuals dropped 19.8%, group crimes decreased 18.8%, domestic-related crimes declined 5.5%, intentional murders dropped 39.1%, property-related crimes fell 4.2%, including thefts by 6.2% and frauds by 7.3%.
