One dead, three injured in rollover accident in Azerbaijan's Shamkir

A serious traffic accident occurred in the Shamkir district in the early hours of July 8, 2025, APA’s local bureau reports.

The accident took place in the village of Shishtapa. The incident occurred when Shamkir city resident, A. Atakishizade (born in 1992), lost control of his "KIA" car while driving, causing the vehicle to overturn.

As a result of the accident, the driver and three passengers — Shishtapa village residents O. Atakishiyev (born in 1993), C. Ibadullayev (born in 1993), and I. Atakishiyev (born in 1968) — sustained various injuries and were hospitalized at the Emergency Department of the Shamkir District Central Hospital around 02:50 AM on July 8.

According to the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB), all four male victims received necessary medical treatment. Three of the injured, whose condition was assessed as satisfactory, were discharged for outpatient care.

However, despite intensive care, one of the injured — I. Atakishiyev (born in 1968) — succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 03:50 AM on July 9.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
