The cause of the mass poisoning from doner in Nakhchivan has been identified, , APA’s Nakhchivan bureau reports.
According to Head of the Food Chain Control Department of the Food Safety Agency of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Orkhan Orujov's interview with journalists, urgent measures were taken by the agency as soon as information about 17 people suffering from mass food poisoning at the "Kassap Doner" located on Heydar Aliyev Avenue in Nakhchivan city was received:
"Our staff carried out the necessary actions at the doner shop where the incident occurred, the doner shop’s activity was restricted, appropriate measures were taken, and samples were collected and submitted to the laboratory of the Nakhchivan Food Safety Institute. Investigations are ongoing. Detailed results will be communicated to the public."
The official stated that the incident may also be related to the season, as well as to violations in the storage and usage of products:
"The investigation is ongoing, and samples are being taken at relevant stages of the food chain, including raw doner storage or processing facilities, as well as from doner intended for and subjected to thermal processing. Samples have also been taken from sauces, ketchups, and mayonnaises used for the doner and submitted to the Food Safety Institute’s laboratory. In general, there is a normative legal act adopted regarding these products. It is necessary to comply with the temperature regime requirements specified in that act. During our observations, the improper storage temperatures and violation of hygiene rules for mayonnaise, ketchup, and other sauces used lead to such undesirable incidents in the end."

17 people have been poisoned by döner kebab in Nakhchivan, APA’s Nakhchivan bureau reports.
The Nakhchivan Infectious Diseases Center Public Hospital reported to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Food Safety Agency that 17 people had suffered food poisoning after consuming döner at “Kassap Döner,” located on Heydar Aliyev Avenue in Nakhchivan city.
Following the report, urgent measures were taken by the agency. The suspected food items were secured, and the operation of the döner shop was suspended.
“Nine of those poisoned were minors,” said Dr. Nazmin Allahverdiyeva, an infectious disease specialist at the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Infectious Diseases Center, speaking to journalists.
The doctor noted that on June 9, 17 individuals were admitted to the Emergency Medical Department of the Infectious Diseases Center with a diagnosis of food poisoning. “Upon admission, most patients were in moderate to serious condition, and two were in severe condition. After receiving symptomatic treatment and being monitored closely, all patients recovered fully and were discharged. Of the 17 affected individuals, 3 were from separate families, 5 were from one family, 4 from another, and 3 from a third family. Although 17 people came to us directly, we have received information that the actual number of poisoning cases may be higher, as more people sought medical assistance through emergency services.”
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the public will be informed of the results.
It is worth noting that this is the second mass food poisoning incident caused by doner in Nakhchivan within the last 20 days. On May 21, seven people were poisoned after eating doner.
