Several individuals attempting to illegally cross Azerbaijan’s state border have been detained, APA reports, citing the press service of the State Border Service (SBS).
On April 12, one Pakistani citizen (born in 1996, Shahroz Muhammad) was detained in the “Shamkir” border unit while trying to cross into Georgia. Four Pakistani citizens — Haider Irfan Ali Vahab (b. 2006), Rehman Zaid Jamil Abdul (b. 1994), Hussain Rahid Hüssain Hamid (b. 2002), and Asif Muhammed Noor (b. 2003) — were caught in the “Khudat” border unit while attempting to cross into Russia. Additionally, one Algerian citizen (b. 1990, El Haouati Mohammad) was detained in the “Zagatala” border unit.
Investigations revealed that the detainees intended to enter European countries illegally via Azerbaijan.
Operational-investigative measures are ongoing to identify the human trafficking network behind the illegal migration attempts.
